It had been a long day for the Amazons, the plague seem to have slowed down and the cases were becoming fewer and fewer. This was a relief for Ailyth, it gave her time to catch her breath. Laying in her tent she tried to sleep, the sky was dark and it should have been easy for her to fall asleep but this wasn't the case. She couldn't get comfy which made her toss and turn but the more she did so the more uncomfortable that she became. It was a vicious cycle. With a frustrated groan Ailyth sat up on her bedroll before rising and leaving her tent. Clearly she wasn't going to get to sleep yet.
The sky was littered with stars and for a moment Ailyth was mesmerized by them. Her mind wandered to a time when a stranger in her lands had said that her beauty surpassed even the stars, a smile crossed her lips as she dismissed the thought. Walking through her camp she looked at all the closed tents, the horses were silent and for a moment the Amazon Princess genuinely felt like it was too quiet. A cold breeze tossed her hair about her shoulders and made her shiver. Walking over to the horses she untied her grey horse, not bothering to saddle her as she brought her away from the other horses, mounting up and kicking her horse on.
Her horse trotted out of the camp, she hoped that a ride would tire her out so that she could actually get some sleep.
A set of deep laughter spilled in the night, followed by the clash of steel as two large figures fought one another in the night. The stars over head, along with the moon and a pair of torches provided them with the light and the occasional glint of steel in that light. Bjorn hopped backward a series of steps and froze as his heels neared the ledge of a short fall and he perked a brow at the thought which came to mind. Taking a deep breath, he made a motion for his brother to attack him and Brandr shook his head, "I am no fool." That made a smirk form for Bjorn who went running toward his brother and their clash continued in the night as they sought to tire themselves further, having done little more than hunt that day.
Parrying one of Bjorn's swipes, Brandr stepped to the side. "Don't slice a tent open this time, either." That led to an eye roll and Bjorn lowered his sword. "That was your fault... tripping me toward them." Brandr had prepared to retort, when the sound of hooves came well within earshot and his head lifted up, Bjorn's following just a moment later. Shirtless, sweating and catching their breath, the pair walked away from the fire that burned between their two tents and waited to see if those hooves came closer, each being curious, yet a bit worried given it had not been that long since they were chased from their home.

The Amazon Princess wasn't paying attention to her surroundings, her eyes focused upon the sky until her horse suddenly began to prance, catching her off guard and making her almost slide from the horses back due to the lack of saddle. Her eyes quickly scanned her surroundings, very much aware of the fact that she wasn't armed. Seeing lights in the distance she frowned, it was a camp and that meant people. Great, I don't even have a bow... Ailyth was a brilliant marksman and she was more than accustomed to using it while on horse back and with twin blades she was no novice either. Unfortunately she had neither with her.
Tapping her horse on gently she forced the mare forward, forcing her towards the camp. As the Princess she needed to make sure that whoever had this camp wasn't going to be a thread towards her people. The horse did not seem happy about it however.
The closer she got to the little camp the more that she could see, she could make out two figures and decided that there was only two people there. That wouldn't be too bad for her, she could escape from two people easy enough. She got close enough to the camp so that it could be seen that she was firstly a woman and secondly not brandishing any weapons. Slowly dismounting from the horse she held her hand out towards the horse. "Stand." She said the word calmly before turning her attention to the two men, holding her empty hands up to show that she wasn't armed before crossing them over her chest.
"It isn't very often we get men venturing into our lands." Ailyth kept her eyes on the two men, if she needed to run then she needed to know very quickly. "I am Ailyth, and you are?" She wanted to know who these men were that were so close to her tribe, looking them over calmly, she already knew what the women would think of these two but she'd have them driven off their lands in an instant if they were a threat.
It was Brandr who perked a brow when Ailyth came into sight and his eyes moved from her to the horse. It seemed well enough trained, which meant she wasn't someone of lower demeanor and that made him sigh heavily at her question. "Brandr, my little brother Bjorn is over there." Lifting the bastard sword he still had in hand, Brandr spun it down and slid it home instead a sheath and then laid it off to the side, trying to show he wasn't going to be a threat. Following the action, Bjorn did the same with less flare, simply sheathing the sword and laying it to the side as well.
"Just traveling through right now. See the area, who knows where afterward." Bjorn offered, knowing it was the truth for now. There were only so many uses for men in this region, even if he'd not mind one of them, he had few desires to seek the one that came to mind out. Last thing he wanted or needed was being stuck with a boy to raise- same for Brandr at that moment.
The two looked at each, offering silent debate, which ended with Bjorn shrugging toward his brother. "Ailyth sounds familiar, not quite sure where." His brow furrowed as he seemed to be thinking a little too hard, Brandr not worrying about figuring out who she was, simply offering a bow and a wolfish grin. "Your look, the horse, I am guessing you're an Amazon... so, that would mean we might be safe finally." When he admitted as much aloud, it made Bjorn groan, then grumble. "You really do not know how to keep your maw shut, do you?" His brother shrugged, "may as well be honest. Less likely to be hanging from a rope that way." Letting it go at that, Bjorn looked up to her, "anything we could do for you?"

It was hard to hold back a laugh at his introduction, she smiled instead but it was one of those smiles that showed she was highly amused by something. "Wouldn't call him little," she said as she glanced over at Bjorn. He was anything but little in her opinion, they were both large men but these were the type of men that Ailyth was used to dealing with. Her father had been a warlord and had taught her that even the biggest of men could be brought down by someone half their size, especially when they had the fire that Ailyth did. Big men didn't intimidate her and she knew the perfect way to bring them down if they tried anything. Her knee would always fit perfectly between their legs in the need arose.
As they put away their swords she relaxed slightly, if they meant to be threats to her then they wouldn't have put away their swords. That was just common sense. They could have overpowered her easily enough so they didn't exactly need the element of surprise.
Watching the two men she turned her full attention to Bjorn when she heard him speak. Most men wouldn't risk traveling through, they all seemed to have this odd idea in their head that the Amazons abducted any men that came too close to their camps but this wasn't the case. They often went out and found men that appealed to them since they were going to potentially father children, some of them were very picky about their men. Ailyth was one of said women since there was a lot expected from her as the Princess.
The wind tousled her hair as she stood there looking at the two of them. A smile once again coming to her lips as she watched them. Brothers were fascinating things, she had no siblings amongst the Amazons and she was pretty sure that her parents didn't have any other children. "Yes, I'm an Amazon." The petite woman could already tell how these two worked, Bjorn was the more cautious of the two while Brandr seemed easily distracted by the female form. Her interest was peaked by the comment about them being safe which was what prompted her next words. "I'm the Princess of the Amazons actually."
Raising her hand she moved her hair away from her face. "I was merely out for a late night ride when I saw you and wanted to see who was so close to my tribe. Can't have a threat sneaking up on us, now can we?" These two weren't a threat to them, she could tell that already. "But it would be rude of me to not offer you two shelter if you are in some kind of trouble, not to mention that the women would never forgive me." Her eyes moved from one brother to the other, looking between them curiously.
"Yeah, he's not too little, less you get in his pants." The remark led to Bjorn looking down and shaking his head. "Again... you are insecure." Their banter stopped when she introduced herself properly and that made Bjorn's eyebrow raise and his head tilted to the side curiously. "No, we're far from a threat. Homeless- looking for a new place belong." He smiled then, deciding he could at least try and be a bit less of a prude at that moment where their situation went. "We were exiled from our home. If you wish, I can go in great detail, or stay with the simple explanation."
Brandr found it odd that he said that and looked at him equally so, only to decide to drop it. Looking back to the princess, he smiled. "Some shelter would be nice- assuming he doesn't chop up a tent." This time Bjorn ignored it and walked toward Ailyth, closing enough distance he was only a few steps away. "Some shelter would be pleasant. Losing so much in a short time frame has left us exhausted here," he touched his head and glanced back at Brandr, who merely had an eyebrow raised. "What do you say?"
The older brother nodded, "let's." He looked around, "we're not a threat- just wanderers, hired blades if desired. But, before we leave, we have a camp to deconstruct." Bjorn sighed, "we do." Turning his attention back to her, he offered a soft, hesitant smile of his own. "We didn't mean to intrude so far into your home territory; but thank you for the offer." He hesitated physically for a moment, then turned and walked back toward his tent and began to take it down, Brandr doing the same for his own.

Comments such as that might have made the maids of other races blush but not the Amazon maids, they were well aware of the fact that real men like the Wyraki were bold and it is perhaps one of the reasons behind the Amazons always picking Wyraki men to father their children. It also gave creedence to a very old saying amongst the Amazons that only they gave birth to real men. "I find that very hard to believe," Ailyth commented in a light hearted manner as she looked over Bjorn. No, she couldn't imagine any part of him really being described as little. Her mind was quickly made to think of other things and part of her was glad that was the case or who knew where that conversation would take them.
His words about not being a threat rung true to Ailyth, it was an odd feeling given how she was generally untrusting when it came to men, she knew how their crude little minds worked at times. "I believe you when you say that you're not a threat to my people and that is good enough for me, explanations can come later if they are needed." Wyraki had exiled people for losing a fight before so she wasn't overly concerned for the time being. If it brought trouble to the Amazons however this would change and she would need to know the reasons but for now it wasn't something to be talked about in the dead of the night.
They have attractive smiles, pleasing bodies and I can tell already that they're going to prove a good distraction for the women... She thought to herself as she subtly looked over them both. They were good looking men and it was times like these that she was slightly envious of Wyraki women who could spend plenty of time with such men whereas men among the amazons were rare. Bjorn moving closer to her didn't phase her, it gave her a chance to get a better look at him and she wasn't disappointed by what she saw. "You'll be able to rest for as long as long as you like, I highly doubt anyone would come to us looking for you since all Wyraki men seem to him we'll either kill or abduct them on sight," the smile that came to her lips showed that she was merely teasing about the last part.
Some Wyraki worried about coming onto Amazon lands while others knew that unless they caused problems they would be fine, all men seemed to like when an Amazon came onto their lands however since they usually only did it for one reason unless they worked outside of the Amazons.
Ailyth was in no rush so waiting for them to pack up their camp wasn't a problem for her. She returned Bjorn's smile with an ease that surprised her, she wasn't sure whether it was his eyes or his voice that she found more attractive. "No harm has been done so think nothing of it." She spoke honestly with a smile, she didn't mind helping those that weren't going to cause her problems, the fact that they were both handsome was just an added bonus. Her mare pushed against her shoulder with her nose, causing her to look away from Bjorn but not before she noticed his hesitation. That made her curious but she wouldn't question it for the time being.
Stroking her mare's neck in calming motions she found herself glancing towards the brothers every once in a while but always found her eyes lingering upon Bjorn for several seconds longer than anything else in her view. She quickly looked away when she realized that she was doing it however.
As he worked on taking down his tent, what seemed to be the occasional stare in his direction didn't escape Bjorn and it made a small smile appear while he believed between the shadows and his head being hidden behind the leathers that made the tent itself. The act itself did not take them long and they picked up the pair of torches they had lit near the center of the small camp and put them out, their eyes taking a few moments to adjust to the starlit darkness.
Brandr walked up to Bjorn, who was unconsciously watching her closely. Clamping down on his shoulder, he shook Bjorn. "Get your focus back on our gear... and off the pretty princess." He glared at him, jaw set and it was obvious he was annoyed at him before turning to move and gather up the rest of their supplies. "My focus was where it belongs..."
That got a snort as Brandr walked toward Ailyth, "bullshit." A deep sigh escaped from Bjorn as he walked up to the two and he looked at his brother and growled, which did little more than spawn a big grin. "Behave..." Brandr turned his attention from an irked brother to Ailyth, "we'll follow you."

Her mare was getting restless and didn't seem happy that her rider was paying as much attention to the men (or rather man) as she was the grey creature. "Enough." She whispered as she held her palm up to the horse who stopped moving restlessly almost instantly. With the horse momentarily settled she looked over at the brothers, she could tell that they were disagreeing about something but had no desire to pry into it. Siblings disagreed, this was a fact. She had three cousins who she'd been raised with so she knew that this was a fact.
As Brandr walked over to her she smiled at him, "And I thought girls were bad for bickering." Her tone was light hearted so she clearly wasn't being serious, sibling bickering was the same no matter the gender. She'd seen sisters come to blows as many times as she had brothers. The growl as Bjorn joined them made Ailyth raise a brow slightly, she was now sure that she'd missed something that would make this all make sense. "Our camp isn't far from here, when we're able to travel we'll be making for Valhalla, you're both more than welcome to come along." Ailyth was free to make such invitations due to her rank as Princess.
Tapping her horse on its flank she turned and walked back in the direction that she'd came, "Walk on, Stubborn Mare." The horse followed the Amazon, walking just behind her in another example of how well trained the unnamed horse was. Ailyth had had the horse since she was 13 and had yet to give the horse a name other than 'Stubborn Mare' and 'Mare'. The Amazon found herself glancing at Bjorn and silently wanted to smack herself for it, Get a grip of yourself! Just because he has nice eyes doesn't mean you have to keep looking at him.
Ailyth didn't like the silence that had fallen over them but wasn't sure what to say, this wasn't a situation that she found herself in very often but she needed to say something to break the silence. "Have either of you spent much time with Amazons?" she asked curiously, she wanted to know if any of the Amazons with her were going to be happy to see them or not.
It was habit, one left from his childhood where Bjorn had stuck a long tongue out at Ailyth when she accused them of bickering. Even if they were warriors, it was obvious Bjorn and Brandr had their tendencies toward light heart behavior, even if normally it was aimed at each other alone. His tongue vanished quickly after a pop on his back and he stepped ahead of his brother to walk opposite of Ailyth and watch her as he listened.
Brandr purposely lingered a couple steps behind, carrying both swords over his left shoulder, his part of their supplies on his right shoulder. Bjorn carried his on the right as well and his head tilted to watch her quietly as they walked. One thing lingered in both of their minds as they walked without a word spoken and it was at her question that they smiled in tandem.
"We have been in Valhalla before," he began, only to glance over his shoulder. "We were born male, thus sent to live with a useless father. He may have been a warrior, he wasn't a father." Licking on his bottom lip after speaking, Bjorn pulled it between his teeth to suck on for a moment as he tried to differentiate his disdain and accurate memories. "We share a mother and father, so far as we know. Being as neither of us have very clear memories of that long ago, hard to truly know."
Brandr dropped in then as he moved up beside of his brother. "Same mothers or not, we're blood and we are family." Bjorn smiled, "certainly. And you will always try to play the protective older brother." Brandr patted him on the arm, a covered shoulder unavailable, "you'll need it." Looking toward Ailyth then, he pursed his lips. "Any chance she, or they are alive?"

The Amazon wanted to laugh at the fact that this big, strong warrior had just stuck his tongue out at her. Ailyth wasn't used to such things having grown up an only children and among women. Ailyth couldn't remember any of the boys that she'd grown up around, she could vaguely remember there being a few boys that her mother had kept her well away from. To this day Ailyth still wondered what her mother had been so worried about since the boys had always been younger and well aware of the fact that causing trouble with one of the Princess's meant all the girls ganging up on them. "Oh what a manly and yet a adorable thing to do."
It was the first comment that came to mind and she just had to say it, she was keen to see his reaction.
That they'd been born in Valhalla only made them more interesting to her. As she listened she couldn't help but keep her eyes on them, they were close to her in age so it was likely her mother, or even her aunt, would know their mother. Ailyth smiled as she watched the exchange between them. It must be nice to have someone you could be so close to. Ailyth had always wanted siblings, she hadn't cared about the gender but when her mother had left the Amazons she'd come to terms with the fact that she wasn't likely to get her wish.
"The chances are that you share the same mother, while most of us don't marry we do generally have our children by the same man." Ailyth thought about it for a moment before speaking again. "Perhaps, it is hard to say with the plague but it would be easy enough for me to find out." As Princess when she made inquiries she quickly got the answers that she wanted. "I'm guessing we're about the same age so my mother is likely to know her, or The Queen will since her eldest is our age."
Ailyth couldn't stop thinking about their lack of relationship with their father, her own tried to have a relationship with her and despite it not exactly being the traditional father/daughter relationship it worked for them. She pushed these thoughts aside as she turned her attention back to them. Her eyes kept lingering on Bjorn and it was starting to worry her that she kept doing it.
Ailyth didn't do the whole staring at handsome men thing, it wasn't like her. Some Amazons went for that sort of thing but Ailyth had always said the man that fathered her children would have to be able to out shoot her with bow or beat her in a fair fight. The two that had tried to 'claim' her in the past had left with their tails between their legs after she'd issued her challenge to them. She hadn't taken too kindly to them thinking she was some object to be claimed.
"It will be nice to meet her- hopefully," Bjorn said after her explanation and he smiled at the thought, blue eyes growing soft at the idea of seeing her after so very long. Brandr had a similar expression form, but his vanished much more quickly. He fell silent and left speaking to her to Bjorn, the older brother walking away a few feet to let his attention move and focus on things other than the thoughts that were growing in his mind.
Watching his brother walk away, it confused Bjorn some, only to half-frown and then shake his head. Looking back to Ailyth after a moment, he offered her a smile. "You've been watching me quite a bit," he voiced, having noticed, accompanied by a chuckle. "What thoughts are running through that beautiful mind?" He had learned early in his years, even if many of his brethren see women as objects, treating them, seeing them are far more opened doors for you. Lust still played in his mind, he was a male, didn't keep him from saying her mind, instead of simply calling her beautiful.

"You shouldn't frown, it detracts from those handsome features of yours." Ailyth spoke before her mind could stop the words from leaving her mouth. A light blush came to her cheeks as she suddenly realized what she'd actually just said. Freya what are you doing to me? Why would you let me say that!? She'd just all but told him that she'd been looking at him and that he was handsome in a single sentence. If any of her family had been here then she would have been teased mercilessly for the rest of her life about this.
The blush on her cheeks darkened as he told her that she'd been caught looking at him. Freya strike me down, now...please? Ailyth didn't put much faith in the gods, surely they had bigger things to worry about than the troubles of women like herself but that didn't stop her from asking a favor from time to time. "Well, it would appear I've been caught red handed so I can hardly deny looking at you." She'd been caught so she wasn't about to deny it, that would be pointless. "It's those eyes of yours and that wicked smile, I can't help but look." Despite this being very true her tone was lighthearted and teasing.
Shaking her head she moved her hair away from her face, "As odd as this might sound coming from an Amazon...I can't imagine what it must be like to not get along with your father but clearly he's the one missing out. I know my father would have taken great pride in having sons like you but alas he got me instead and all the headaches that come with me." Ailyth smiled as she looked over at him, she'd always known her father had wanted sons but he never complained about just having her, she was royalty on both sides of her family, she was a huntress and a warrior, what was there for him to complain about? As daughters went she was a rather good one that he would never have to worry about.
"It was my father and cousin Ivan who decided that I should only consider taking a man if he could beat me in a fight," Ailyth couldn't help but smile as she looked over at him. "Who knows what they would have come up with if I'd had brothers."
The blush that formed was unexpected and a big smile began to slowly grow as he listened to Ailyth, as he watched her and he could only nod. "Chances are, it would have been to best your brother, or brothers in mortal combat." A chuckle formed as he looked into her eyes, sizing her up mentally for a moment before settling on saying what sat in his mind.
That smile faded into a teasing smirk as he finally looked back toward Ailyth after a moment of silence. "Perhaps I should start refining those sword skills if I have to beat you?" He winked, the smile shifting to a smirk as he tried to keep it from growing much larger. Even if she was a princess, he was allowed to tease and flirt, right? At least that was what he kept telling himself after cracking that line.
A cleared throat drew his attention away from her finally and Brandr pointed ahead of them. "Lights from the 'zon camp are visible. Might be best to put your game aside for now?" That led to a sigh from Bjorn and he glanced between the two of them. It was that moment where he may have been closing on thirty, but felt like a teen boy being told to behave.

"But where would the fun be in that when being beaten by a woman really hurts their egos." Watching men walk away with their tails between their legs was a rather happy sight to Ailyth because not only did it show at they weren't going to be able to handle her but that women could be just as skilled as men when it came to using a sword. Her speed and smaller frame often gave her the advantage since she could move in ways that they couldn't, not to mention that there was a lot less of her to hit.
His words made her smile, she liked a challenge and she imagined that he would be quite the challenge. "Oh, you would have to. The last man who tried was bigger than you." Ailyth couldn't help but point that out with a smile. She had to admit that if he did try and challenge her then she might have been tempted to hold back just a little to see how serious he was. "If you do decide to challenge me though I would be happy to accept, I'd be interested to see what you're made of." Ailyth could tease too and if there was a little bit of truth behind the teasing then so be it.
A bright blush came to her cheeks as Brandr made his presence known by clearing his throat but it wasn't there for long and she was thankful for that. "Your about to enter a camp full of women who for the most part haven't seen a man in months, I think the games are only just starting." Ailyth smiled as she took hold of her horses reins and walked ahead slightly, a glinting in the distance caught her eye. There was a scout watching them. As they got closer she raised her hand into the air, "Lower your bow sister! They're with me!" The glinting disappeared as two torches were lit and the figure of a woman waving could be made out.
"Princess! Welcome back!" The woman called as she moved towards them.
Ailyth looked at the brothers and smiled. "Welcome to our camp."
