Avalon was a beautiful city.
The Allaway Princess had always enjoyed her time there, it was so different from her home and there was so many trinkets for her to buy. Valencia Valenwood didn’t just come to Avalon for the trinkets though. No, she came for the change of scenery and to purchase a gift for her father. While she doubted most of the things within the city would hold very little interest to him she knew a new weapon would never be frowned upon by him. Weapons were always a good way to go for a King.
Walking through the markets she glanced around at the vendors who were calling out, trying to entice people to their stalls and stores. Several called out to her as ‘beautiful lady’ and she had to smile, wondering if they would be so bold if they knew who they were speaking to. None of them held her attention for long an she continued to make her way through the marketplace with her guards were lingering behind her. They were trying to hide their presence from her, trying to act as though they weren’t following her but she knew. She was very aware of the fact that they were following her but she would let them have their little moment, allow them to think that they were doing their job well.
Valencia moved with all the grace of an Vanir, her footsteps light upon the ground and gave the illusion that she glided more than walked. It attracted attention but Valencia couldn’t have cared less. She’d found what she was looking for. The stalls owner looked shocked when she approached his stall. In her airy, revealing dark blue silk dress, immaculate make-up and a delicate silver circlet resting upon her forehead and really bringing out her vivid eyes she didn’t look like the type of woman to be interesting in weapons but looks could be deceiving.
Picking up the sword she balanced it upon her palm, looking it over with a calm gaze. It was a well balanced weapon though it was a tad hilt heavy. Grey eyes moved over the well crafted glad, it was a fine piece and while it most certainly had that ‘decorative element’ to it, it was a weapon she herself would use. It was made for speed, sharp and on point attacks. It would make a fine edition to her father’s armoury, or she might end up keeping it herself, she hadn’t decided. Spinning the blade in her palm she took the hilt in hand, holding it before her as her fingers moved up the blade, her palm resting against the blade.

Avalon was indeed a beautiful city.
King Abraxas was always the first to proudly tell anyone about all the wonders if this city and everything within the Venetian Kingdom. Sure, it had changed from years past but Abraxas wouldn't change anything. It was perfect if you asked him. He too was in the markets today. People bowed as he passed and his smiled adoringly at his people. He really did try to do right by them.
A little boy was chasing a little girl with a wooden sword and the girl screamed and ran behind the King. The girl's mother looked shocked and started to apologize but Abraxas simply smiled and held up a hand. He crouched down and looked at the boy and lowered his voice to that of a whisper for both children, and only those close by to hear. "Chasing the damsel is not the way to go about things my lad, you'll never get the girl that way." He grinned. "Instead, you're supposed to fight off the dragon and save the fair maiden to win the lady's heart." The little girl blushed and the boy looked a bit embarrassed but gave the King a sheepish grin. "Oh no! Look, a mighty dragon!" He said more loudly and pointed to the sky. Both children looked up, pretending to also see the dragon and ran off to play, the boy now swiping his sword at the invisible beast, his arm held protectively in front of the girl. Abraxas chuckled before continuing on his way.
As he passed a weapons shop he saw a familiar face. Yes, the King had seen Princess Valenwood on many occasions and for many years. He approached her as she examined the blade in her hand. "You certainly like to fit just outside the classic Princess mold, do you not Princess Valencia?" He said with a grin.

A warm smile crossed her lips as she cast a sidelong glance in the King’s direction. “But of course, Your Highness. If I wasn’t I would simply be another princess and you’d forget me,” Valencia couldn’t resist the teasing flirtation at the end of her words. King Abraxas was a handsome man after all, how could she not flirt a little? The Princess was a natural flirt and that he was King and married meant very little to her since she knew her flirtations were simply a bit of fun.
Lowering the blade in the tell-tale fluent motion of an experienced hand. “Could you have this sent to the Venetia Flower Inn for me please?” she asked the vendor as she looked back at him, a pleasing smile still upon her lips.
“Of course, Princess,” he said in his most respectful tone, bowing his head to her as he took the sword from her, wrapping it in a soft white cloth before putting it into a box. “I’ll have it sent over straight away.”
“Thank you, my father will love it,” she said as she handed over the coins for the sword, and couple of extra coins for the delivery.
Turning her attention back to Abraxas her smile changed slightly, becoming a more flirtatious smile. “What brings you to the Marketplace, Your Highness?” Valencia could have flirted more, stepped closer to him and given him a few teasing little touches but she resisted. He was the king after all, she couldn’t seduce him like she would other men, no, that teasing was for lesser men. As King he needed to handler differently. While she was well known to be a flirt, she knew also knew when to rein it in. And this was one of those occasions.
“It’s a lovely day, I seem to have the best luck when it comes the weather during my visits.” She’d yet to have it rain or be cold during a visit, it had always been perfect weather, something she was always thankful for.

"Oh, I doubt anyone could forget you, Princess." Abraxas responded with a smile. He knew the girl well enough to know just how flirty she was. Sometimes he wondered if she always meant to do it or if by now it was almost a habit. Regardless, he enjoyed the flirting, not even the least put off that she was more than half his age nor that she was younger than 3 of his 4 children. Age didn't matter to him.
However, being a Princess from another Kingdom where he really wanted to maintain peaceful relations did matter to him, and as easy as it would be to flirt back, Abraxas restrained himself. He did however act the gentleman and before Valencia could actually pay, he slid his own coin to the vendor instead to pay for the weapon so that she wouldn't have to. "Perhaps it's you that brings your own luck?" He suggested with a smile when she commented on the weather. "As for me, I just like to get out among the people when I can. I can do so much more as their King if I know more about them, rather than if I sit inside my palace away from it all. But what brings you to Avalon? Surely you have plenty of fine weaponry in Allaway?" He asked politely, clasping his hands casually behind his back, perhaps to help him keep his hands to himse

“Forever the charmer, my King,” she couldn’t help but flutter her eyelashes at him, he was annoyingly easy to flirt with. Charming and handsome, it was almost a shame that he was married. If he weren’t she might have attempted to seduce him with words and see if he held her interest long enough to make it something more. “Your Queen is a lucky woman to have such a charming and handsome man at her side.” She hated to think who she was going to end up married off to.
Someone safe and boring she imagined.
The princess shot him a playful half-hearted glare when he paid for the sword, Valencia was used to men buying her gifts, it was part of being a princess but this was the first time she’d had someone step to buy a weapon for her. Or rather for her father since it was a gift for him. “And a gentleman, does my King have any flaws?” A teasing tone came to her voice though there was no denying that she was flirting. He really was far too easy to flirt with.
If Valencia was lucky she’d yet to see it, she had survived her ‘fated death’ and come out of it as an attractive young woman so she supposed she could be seen as lucky. She’d been saved at the last moment she’d been told, another night and she would have been gone, perhaps she was luckier than she’d given herself credit for. “It is no wonder your people you love so,” she responded with a smile, “I have yet to hear them say a bad word about you.” Valencia tilted her head slightly, her hair falling down over her chest. “I am secretly in love with your city, I love the fashion and the freedom I get while I am here.” No family hovering and worrying for her health if she showed any sign of illness or exhaustion. “It is nice to get away, be somewhere where you don’t have to live up to the expectations of a title every minute of the day, I rather enjoy being able to let my hair down and have some fun.”

He was the one who was the charmer? Well yes, yes he was, but so was she. He remembered a time when he was young and had actually tried to pursue the woman that would one day be her mother. Her father found out of course, though it was before the two of them had been married. Still, it was definitely a point of personal contention between the two rulers. Oh what would would King Valenwood do if he even showed interested in his precious only daughter. As beautiful and intriguing he found Valencia to be, he was smart enough not to even attempt to go there.
He grinned at she congratulated his wife but said nothing about it. Things weren't exactly...a fairy tale between them these days. He'd rather not talk about her to this young Princess who likely had never been in any sort of serious relationship yet. He chuckled when she asked if he had any flaws. "None that I'm willing to admit." He said with a smirk and a wink. Of course he had flaws, everyone did, but that was hardly the point of the conversation.
His chest was certainly puffed up as she spoke so highly of both him as King and his beloved Avalon. His greatest love after his family. "It is quite wonderful here, I agree." He said with a smile. "Unfortunately, your title follows you everywhere. You can only let your hair down so much." He looked out towards the streets and then back at Valencia. "Would you care to walk with me, Princess?" He asked.

No Royal with any sense would admit to having flaws, flaws were weaknesses that could be easily exploited. Valencia knew that better than most. Since her return to health there had been all manner of rumours about her, though many of them had been put to rest luckily. The one about her having died and been brought back to life by some dark Istari magic had been laughable, Valencia had been so glad when that one had been laid to rest. The rest had at least made some sort of sense, in a weird kind of way.
The worst of it was over now though. She’d been in good health ever since and she’d made sure that everyone knew it, she couldn’t give them reason to doubt her health when she knew how important it was for her to be seen as healthy.
Avalon was wonderful but Calbria was something else, something truly amazing that Avalon would never be able to compare with. They were too different to truly be compared, and while she might love Avalon she couldn’t imagine herself ever living there on a fulltime basis. “That is very true, I am lucky to an extent though since a lot of people in Avalon don’t know what I look like.” That she often came to Avalon without escorts or guards if she could get away with it. For the most part if she could get away with it she came with no-one in tow. She preferred it that way, all the ass kissing and bending and scrapping annoyed her too much. Sucking up to her father, her brother, made sense but all the sucking up just drove her mad.
“I would love to, your Highness,” Valencia never needed an excuse to go for a walk with an attractive man. Especially one that intrigued her like Abraxas did. “Though…I would much rather you call me Valencia.” Valencia was always what she preferred to be called, Princess was so formal and…well dull.

Abraxas couldn't have known how often she wandered around unaccompanied. The King was rather protective of his children, especially his girls, and would have died if he had found out that they had done such a thing. It was probably a good thing he didn't know just how often Valencia did it or else he might have chided her, offering words of caution and warning. Obviously he could guess she did it on occasion, given that she wasn't currently accompanied.
She agreed to walk with him and they started a casual stroll through the streets, though walking with the King would like have her face recognized by a few more people than if she wasn't. Context and all that. "I think I can manage that." He said with a grin when she told him that she preferred he call her by her first name.
"How is your family?" He asked her while they walked.
