Amelia picked up her shirt as she walked down the stairs to the royal garden. The dress seemed really extreme to be a day dress, but she knew if she got caught wearing one of her plain cotton dresses she worked hard to make would simply be thrown into the fire. She also didn't want to be mistaken as a servant. So she wore the dresses Lennox gave her and she simply was grateful for her kindness. No, she didn't want to embarrass her soon-to-be husband or his family. She didn't deserve someone like him and for once she had to agree that Lennox was right. She was a peasant who worked with her hands since she was born and knew how to make her own clothing, food, and to care for herself in hard times. Felix was of higher blood and had someone to take care of everything he could ever need or want. She broke her back to make sure her family was fed and since her mother was failing in health she not only helped her father in the fields, but was in the house cooking and cleaning to help her mother.
Amelia sat down on a garden bench and looked toward the sky and felt the tears rushed to her face. Why was she taken away from her sickly mother? Her mother needed her more than ever now with her older age. Was she being able to cook for herself and father? She buried her face into her hands as she cried to knowing that she should be grateful again by Felix's family for taking her in now than later. She wanted to be a fine lady for Felix, but at the same time she wished she could runaway from this ordeal. It would be a scandal to both her family and Felix's family. Amelia wanted to be happy, but deep down she couldn't do that to her family. Plus where would run to? She had no one other than her family and they would tell her to come back to Felix and do what is right. She sighed and slumped against the tree and brought her face out of her hands and look at the sky again and just began to dream of her life before now. Amelia's cheeks were stained red and her eyes were rimmed with red as well. Lord, I miss my Ma & Pa, please keep them safe and warm for me. Her voice felt rough and distant, Please give me strength to be a good wife for Felix. I don't belong in such a place and many nobles tell me so everyday. She said and looked at her hands at the calluses that were put there from the hard work and sighed and began to cry again as it reminded her of the farm and her family.
It had been a couple of days since Lennox' yearly crop extravaganza. The party had been a success and Lennox was absolutely pleased about it. Her horses were the talk of the town and the party was even better than that. Even many members of royalty had showed up. Amelia had done well and no one questioned if she really belonged there, other than those who knew where she was really from anyway.
Felix has spent the morning with his horse, riding the trails, trying to get his emotions and frustrations in check. He had been pleased with his new bride-to-be. He understood that this was just as awkward and trying for her as it was for him, even if their reasons were entirely different. He found that the more he talked to her, the more he found that he could imagine them being at least happy together, if nothing more. He had never got a chance to talk to Cyprian at the party and had not seen him since either. The Crown Prince, having only just returned, had definitely been keeping him busy.
He walked back from the stables after handing over his stallion to get cleaned up. As he walked past the garden he heard a small sound and he paused. He moved through the flowers and trees and soon found Amelia in a lovely blue dress. He knew it would really bring out the color of her eyes, but that the moment he couldn't see those bright eyes. She was clearly crying and he felt a knot twist in his stomach. He paused, considering just sneaking away, but knew he could never do that. He walked over to her instead. "Amelia?" He asked, taking a seat on the bench next to her.
His hand brushed her hair away from her face and he saw her tear stained cheeks and red eyes. He gave her a sympathetic frown and he pulled her into a hug. He held her closely for a few moments. "Tell me what's bothering you." He said gently. He may be attracted to men but most of his friends were women and he knew how to treat them well.

Amelia slouched against the back of the bench with her fingers playing with the blue fabric. She let a sigh escape her lips and even though she was gratefull to be able to live in such a luxury that she always feels like its a dream. She loved all the dresses that Lennox gave her and looked at each hem and stitch before she put them on. One day she will build her own dress, but first she had to get her hands on a some fabric and thread. She had her sewing kit in her trunk, but it seemed like she'd just be the outcast once again. She slowly was keeping herself away from the kitchen even though she was dieting inside to bake a cake with all these supplies at her finger tips.
Amelia jumped when she heard her name being called and pulled her head from her lap to look in the those blue eyes and she felt her heart escape before she was ready for it to. She brought her hands from her laps and began to wipe her tear- stained cheeks and eyes to get them to dry. When he moved the hair from her face she blushed from head to toe and then felt him pull her into his arms and that started the tears once again. Why did he have to be such a nice guy? Why couldn't he just hate her for her father's stupidity? She shook her head into his chest and sniffed back her tears, Its nothing for you to worry about, She said as she pulled away from his warm arms and pulled her arms around her chest and stared at the ground.
It was like she was staring off into a new world when she only was staring at the leaf of a rose.Do you ever feel alone? She asked him with no emotion and no idea what she was saying. She knew deep down she needed to keep her thoughts to herself and not to bother Felix with her own problems. He wasn't being ripped away from his family and tossed into a whole new world. He wouldn't simply understand her problems just like the rest of his family and nobles. The only people who would understand her was the servants and maids of the Lepidus household. Deep down Amelia felt she was playing a game like she did when she was a child with her friends playing "princesses". The only friends she had in this household were Felix and the servants, but they always gave her away when asked where she was. Blue eyes broke from the ground to Felix as she chewed on her lower lip. I'm sorry Lord Lepidus, I know noblewomen shouldn't ask such serious questions. Please excuse me for my bad manners.
